Where are Grates made?
Grates are proudly designed and made in France. They’re fabricated near Lyon and assembled between two locations: one near Paris and the other in St. Raphael, on the Riviera.

What are Grates made of?
Grates are crafted from food-grade, BPA-free ABS plastic, with stainless steel hardware and blades. They’re made using renewable energy and are fully recyclable—good for you, and great for the planet.

Can Grates be used anywhere/by anyone?
Absolutely! Grates are durable and versatile, ideal for homes, restaurants, hotels, schools, offices, and more. While easy to use, they’re not toys. Caregivers should ensure children can operate them safely.

GRATE SOAP

What type of soaps can I use with Grates?
For the best performance, stick with Grate-certified soaps available in the shop in our website. Other soaps may affect the machine’s lifespan and void the warranty.
 

How long does a solid soap bar last?
A 125g soap bar dispenses around 1,200 doses. Here’s what that looks like:

• At home:

  • A family of 4 washing hands 4-6 times daily = ~2 months per bar.

  • One daily shower each = ~6 weeks per bar.

• Restaurant (100 guests/day): ~12 days per bar, needing ~3 bars per month.
   

How should I store my Grate soaps?
Stocked up? Great choice for reducing shipping and packaging! Store soaps in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. For your Grate, avoid humid areas like saunas or unventilated showers—ventilation is key for both your Grate and your bathroom.

 

Are Grate soaps suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes! Our soaps are made with natural, nourishing ingredients, ensuring a gentle clean without drying out your skin.

What are the benefits of solid soap over liquid soap?

• Less plastic waste: Minimal-to-no packaging means less pollution.

• More active ingredients: Solid soap contains around 15% water vs. liquid soap’s 80%, giving you more value per wash.

• Gentler formulations: Solid soaps often skip harsh synthetic ingredients, making them better for your skin and the environment.

 

Do Grate soaps contain allergens?
Our natural soaps may contain allergens from their ingredients. If you have concerns, check the ingredient list and test on a small patch of skin first.

Why are Grates soap bars still made in France?
For Grates to function flawlessly (and last a long time), they must be paired with Grate-certified soap. Our current soap selection is made and certified by expert soap makers in France, who’ve worked with Grate in Europe for years. Tried and tested, to ensure your device’s longevity.
However, to reduce transport impact, we’re working with manufacturers in New Zealand and will soon offer the same top-quality soap, made locally.

INSTALLATION

Do I need tools to install a Grate?
For home use, installation is quick and easy with the included double-sided mounting pad. For higher-use areas, screws or high-strength adhesive may be needed (not included). Refer to the installation guide [here].

Can I install Grate in a shower?
Yes, but keep in mind Grates are splashproof (IP21), not waterproof. Install at least 60cm from any spray zone, in well-ventilated areas to ensure proper function and soap longevity.

I’m left-handed—can my Grate be adapted?
Absolutely! Let us know when you order, and we’ll make sure your Grate is set up for left-handed use.

 

ORDERS AND DELIVERY

How long will it take to receive my order?
Expect delivery within 3-5 days, or 5-7 days for rural addresses. For more details, check our shipping page.

 

What if there’s an issue with my order?

Can I pay by bank transfer? What if I have issues with payment?

MAINTENANCE

How do I care for the brass knob?
The brass knob has antibacterial properties but can dull over time. To restore its shine, polish it with a chamois cloth soaked in soap and white vinegar.

How do I maintain my Grate?
Give your Grate some TLC once a month to keep the handle and cutting mechanism in top shape. Follow the maintenance steps in the user guide.

What if a part breaks or goes missing?
No worries! Every part of your Grate is replaceable. Just reach out, and we’ll help you repair or replace it.

 

How do I move or remove my Grate?
Gently remove the wall bracket using a thin blade and white vinegar to loosen adhesive. Refer to the user guide for reinstallation methods.
